Bãi biển Ông Lang (Ong Lang Beach) is one of the most popular and atmospheric areas on Phu Quoc’s west coast, around 8-12 km north of the main town, Dương Đông (Duong Dong).12
Expat chats love it for its peaceful “village vibe”, green tropical gardens and clear dry-season sea.2
1. Sea, sand and seasons
Beach length: Ông Lang (Ong Lang)’s coastline is around 8 km long, so conditions can vary considerably between sections.2
Water cleanliness: from November to March/April, in the dry season, Ông Lang (Ong Lang) is considered one of the island’s cleanest beaches. The water here is calm, azure and clear.12
Seabed features: unlike the purely sandy Bãi Trường (Long Beach), Ông Lang (Ong Lang) combines a gently sloping entry with sandy and rocky sections. In some places close to shore, small reefs with fish and coral sponges offer snorkelling opportunities.12
Sunsets: as the beach faces west, it offers striking sunsets directly over the sea.2
Changing seasons: when currents or winds change, towards March-April, seaweed or natural debris may temporarily wash ashore.2
2. Best locations and entrances
Officially, all beaches in Vietnam are municipal and free to visit. You can reach the sea along public lanes, paths or through coastal hotels and restaurants.1
The Ocean Bay Resort / Grand Ocean Bay section:
One of the best-equipped and most popular places. A broad shoreline, clean sand, a pier and wooden walkways.1
You can buy a drink or rent a lounger/hammock at the beach bar.12
Coco Palm Beach Resort & Mango Bay area:
A section with a convenient sandy water entry and shade from trees and palms. Suitable for holidays with children.2
Chen Sea / Camia hotel bay:
Cosy, intimate little bays with quiet water, swings in the sea and picturesque evening lights.2
Mövenpick Waverly section:
A spacious natural and hotel beach in northern Ông Lang (Ong Lang), with clear water and plenty of room.
Wild Bãi biển Ông Lang (Ong Lang Beach):
Located to the left or right of the main hotel areas, for example by walking right along the shore from Ocean Bay. There are no facilities or loungers here, but virtually no people either.

3. Facilities, venues and shopping
Restaurants and bars: more than 15 restaurants and bars operate along the main village street and coast. Sunset dinner choices often include Ocean Bar & Grill at Ocean Bay, Camia Restaurant, Mai Jo Restaurant, Lemongrass and Tree House Cafe. Grilled-seafood venues also operate right on the shore.12
Shops and everyday services: the area has K-Mart and Z-Market supermarkets, fruit and vegetable shops, massage salons and laundries.
Trips to the centre: plan a taxi or scooter journey to Dương Đông, King Kong supermarket and the night market from your particular part of Ông Lang. For public VinBus routes 17 and 19, check the nearest stop and fare; free travel requires a valid exemption.12

4. The area’s pros and cons
Pros:
Nature and quiet: no high-rise development, with plenty of greenery, birds and palms.
Sea quality: in the dry season, the water is clearer and calmer than at central Bãi Trường (Long Beach).2
Beautiful sunsets: excellent panoramic spots for evenings by the water.2
Accommodation variety: a wide choice of bungalows, villas with gardens and cosy boutique hotels.
Cons:
Limited nightlife: most businesses close by 21:00-22:00. For clubs and partying, you need to go to the island’s centre.2
Reliance on transport: without a rented motorbike or taxi, travelling between distant points along the 8-kilometre beach and into town is inconvenient.2
Sharp rocks in some areas: rocks occur at the water entry on some coastal sections, so choose your swimming spot carefully.2
