Thác Suối Tranh (Suoi Tranh Waterfall) (Suối Tranh) is one of the best-known natural attractions in central Phu Quoc, near the airport and Dương Đông (Duong Dong). It is a scenic eco-park with developed paths, sculptures and a cascading mountain stream with bathing pools.12
1. The crucial consideration: seasons and water availability
The main warning from chat participants is that the waterfall’s presence depends directly on the season:2
Rainy season and autumn (May/August to October/November): the best time to visit. The river fills, cascades surge and you can swim in natural pools among the rocks.12
Dry season (January/February to April/May): at the height of the dry season, the waterfall almost completely dries up, leaving only a rocky streambed or small trickle.12
Is it worth visiting in the dry season? Expats say that even without a surging waterfall, it is worth coming for a walk through the cool, landscaped green park and gardens in the jungle’s shade.2

2. Admission tickets and facilities
Admission price: a ticket to the park grounds costs a nominal 30,000 VND (~$1.2) per person.2
Walking route: a stone-paved trail of around 500-600 metres leads from the main entrance and ticket offices to the waterfall itself. Walking one way takes around 15-20 minutes amid tropical greenery and trees.12
Facilities: the park has bridges, rest areas, photo spots and small cafés selling cold drinks.

3. Hiking to the Tiên Sơn Đỉnh viewpoint
For outdoor enthusiasts, the route continues directly behind the waterfall with a climb up Tiên Sơn Đỉnh:23
What to expect: at the mountain summit is a flat-rock viewpoint with beautiful panoramic views of the jungle, island and aircraft taking off at the airport.12
Climb difficulty: the jungle ascent takes around 30-45 minutes each way.2
What to bring: be sure to wear comfortable shoes, such as trainers, and bring at least 1 litre of drinking water per person.12
4. Getting there
By taxi or motorbike: the easiest and fastest option, as the location is in the island’s centre near the airport roundabout. Navigation readily finds Thác Suối Tranh (Suoi Tranh Waterfall) or Khu Du Lịch Suối Tranh.12
Public transport: before choosing VinBus, check the current route, the stop near Suối Tranh and the remaining distance on the carrier’s map. Public bus fares apply without a confirmed exemption. Do not assume a taxi takes 5-10 minutes from every stop.12
5. Visitor tips from expats
Bring water and mosquito repellent: if you plan to venture further into the jungle or climb the mountain, stock up on water beforehand.1
Take care on slippery rocks: during the rainy period, boulders beside the riverbed become slippery, so take care carrying electronics and wear comfortable shoes.
Visiting time: it is best to arrive in the morning before the intense daytime heat.12
Notes
- It is best to cross-check information with several independent sources.
- Information may be out of date. Check today’s conditions directly with the provider or venue: travel date, prices, schedules, route, access and inclusions.
- Do not treat a strong flow as safe for swimming. An easy route from the waterfall to Tiên Sơn Đỉnh and a 30-45-minute duration are unconfirmed: the mountain requires a separate check of the starting point, access and difficulty.
